I've only been here a few times but I'll definitely keep going back if in the area! Their food is authentic, palate pleasing & eye pleasing as well! This place is definitely not your run of the mill cookie cutter Mexican restaurant thank goodness! The beans are incredible, quite possibly the best I've ever had anywhere! This is by far the best Mexican food that I have tasted in Richmond. Their food never disappoints. Everything is freshly made and seasoned perfectly. You can easily drive by it as it's right off Route 301 and Patrick Henry Hwy in what looks like a little house. But don't be fooled. You won't be disappointed!
AMAZING! The BEST FLAN EVER! they make their own flan fresh in house! Delicious soapapillas! Yummy burritos and more Mexican food! Clean bathrooms! Friendly staff! Dog friendly patio! Plenty of parking. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating.

After my seventh meal here, still giving five stars! One wouldn't expect to find such a wonderful Mexican restaurant in rural Hanover, but I'm here to say it's the best in RVA! When my son told me about El Zocalo, I was skeptical, due only to the location near Hanover Courthouse. I'm so glad he found this gem. We visited on a weeknight and didn't have to wait for a table. Service was prompt and professional, and the margarita was wonderful and tasted fresh. The food is beautifully prepared and so tasty. The seasoned beef and chicken is tender and authentic. Burritos Fajitas are excellent!
The workers that run the place are very nice and were kind to my family. The food came in 5 minutes which was insanely fast for a busy restaurant. It was a cute and cozy place and the atmosphere was great. The food was absolutely amazing and the best food ive had in Richmond. I would definetly recommend this place for a good family dinner or just a quick takeout.
Big portions of delicious food. I had Tacos Pastor, and the blend of flavors was perfect. My wife enjoyed chicken and spinach quesadilla very much. The margaritas are very good - three sizes available. We returned and had another outstanding dinner. I had the pollo chorizo and substituted burrito sauce instead of queso.
Been going here since they first opened and they’re still our favorite Mexican place around. Food is consistently delicious & fantastic, service is fast & friendly, delicious drinks. All around a gem of a place, and love going here!
